Production Management Courses
When you earn your bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BA) with a specialization in Production Management, your curriculum may include these career-enhancing production management courses:
- Total Quality Management - Exploring methods of process control and acceptance sampling, this course presents quality procedures and concepts for enhancing goods, services, and the entire business environment. Probability and statistical concepts as well as a total quality system are covered.
- Master Planning - This course introduces the operational planning process and emphasizes long- and medium-term planning strategies, as well as demand management, master planning concepts, and contemporary topics such as the Theory of Constraints.
- Materials Resource Planning and Capacity Resource Planning - Focusing on the planning process, this production management course addresses formal materials resource planning (MRP) and capacity resource planning (CRP) techniques. Using industry standard production planning and control software to effectively manage inventory, students maintain product data files and create efficient production schedules that meet specified company objectives.
- Production Activity Control and Just-in-Time - In this production management course, students analyze production control requirements as applied to both "push" and "pull" production environments. In addition to capturing data and preparing for product changes, students use a variety of computer-based techniques to analyze and control the production process and to implement just-in-time (JIT) techniques.
- Logistics with Lab - This logistics course provides an overview of the complete material flow cycle, including purchasing, transportation, warehousing, inventory management, trafficking, and shipping, and its relation to facilities. Through various software packages and case studies, students analyze the impact of material flows and physical layouts.
Production Management Course Requirements
To earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at DeVry with a specialization in Production Management, you'll be required to complete 8 full-time semesters or 124 credit hours:
- 94 credit hours (about 30 courses) in your core curriculum
- 30 credit hours (about 8 courses) specific to the business information systems specialization
Although a few courses are worth 1 or 2 credit hours, most are equal to 3 or 4 credit hours. Here's the course load you will carry, depending on whether you attend DeVry as a full- or part-time student:
- Full-time student schedule = 15 credit hours (4 to 5 courses) per semester
- Part-time student schedule = 1 to 14 credit hours (1 to 4 courses) per semester
